Know where to go when feeling unwell

That’s why your local NHS has produced information to help you. From a headache, through burns and scalds, mental health issues, right up to life-threatening emergencies, the information contains advice on a wide range of potential problems.

Solutions range from care you can provide yourself at home, right through to emergency services. All this information and advice can be found on these pages.

The information includes support for children, their parents and carers, from the Frimley Healthier Together website, developed with local parents and clinicians.

Dr Huw Thomas is the Clinical Chair of NHS Frimley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the organisation which plans and funds the majority of services delivered to approximately 800,000 people in East Berkshire, Surrey Heath and North East Hampshire and Farnham. He said: “Knowing where to go for medical advice or treatment – and knowing basic first aid – is very important because it means that if we become unwell or we injure ourselves, we’re not wasting time and energy trying to find out what we should do or having to go round the houses to get where we need to be.

“It has always been good practice to have an understanding of the different options regarding our health and with many health services coping with unprecedented demand as they work to recover from the pandemic, having this knowledge has become even more important.

“I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes every now and then to remind themselves of what services are available locally, as well as making sure they have a well-stocked and up-to-date medicine cabinet or first aid kit at home. If we all get into this routine when we’re well then we’ll have less to worry about if things do go wrong.”
